Flood Alleviation Scheme – Rotherham Council

Introduction: Breheny Civil Engineering, was contracted by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, to construct a New Combined Pumping Station and Outfall Structure; as part of the River Don Flood Alleviation Scheme. NTS (UK) was engaged to Design and Supply a temporary cofferdam, to allow the installation of the in situ reinforced concrete structure. 

Challenges: The works were carried out within a limited site, adjacent to the Council Offices and River Don. The design was influenced by the existing services, which could not be relocated.

Solution: NTS (UK) Designed and Supplied a stepped, single frame, propped cantilever scheme, using a combination of System 30 & System 80 hydraulic frames and 8m long GU21N sheet piles.
